Sacerdotal Harvesting Protocols
In the royal Akurẹ́ tradition, an herbal preparation cannot be made haphazardly. The Babaláwo or Oníṣègun follows strict protocols:
- Paying respect to the soil (Ìtẹríba fún Ilẹ̀).
- Offering gin, water, or kola nuts to the spirit of the plant.
- Calling the plant by its esoteric celestial name (Orúkọ Àwọn Ewé ní Ọ̀run).
- Gathering only the required leaves with clean intent and pure character.
